A letter by Paul McCartney, a Christmas greeting card drawn by John Lennon, addressed to Brian Epstein, and other memorabilia from the collection of the legendary manager and in some cases guardian angel of the Beatles, Brian Epstein, will be auctioned off tomorrow at Christie's in London. The most valuable item, experts say, is a four-page letter by Paul McCartney, the first evidence of any written communication between the musician and his manager. The postcard written by Lennon for his manager bears the inscription: "Happy Christian Brian," a cryptic reference to the fact that Epstein was a practicing Jew in some cases. The auction will include an exhibit of previously unknown photographs of the Beatles, as well as Brian Epstein's birth certificate.
The collection was consigned by Brian to his chauffeur, Brian Barret, shortly before Epstein's death.
