The group Crematorium has finally finished working on the album "Three Sources," which has been in progress since February of 1997. Then again, good music takes a long time to make.
The name "Three Sources" is taken from the Apocalypse, from the chapter about the three spirits summoned to take part in the great battle during Armageddon. "We wanted to talk about something serious and eternal, but in simple, human terms, taking into account the power of irony and self-irony," said the leader of the group, Armen Grigoryan. "For an epigram to the album I would include a quote from the song "Zveroyascher," which would be "studying humans and animals, and everything that comes between them...."
The record consists of the remakes of three old songs ("Zveroyascher," "Kathmandu," and "Year 2001"), and other tracks that have never before been heard by the public.
Since the existence of the group, it had the participation of a huge number of musicians that would pass through it, but this album beats all records. In one of the compositions ("Monsieur Serge") there are five soloists singing- one stanza each. The five famous Serges - Pauk, Voronov, Galinin, Krylov and Chigrakov, presented five entirely different images: crazy Serge, Serge the hooligan, Serge the drunkard, Serge the womanizer, suicidal Serge. Grigoryan admitted that he was very tempted to participate in all this nonsense, but since his name wasn't Serge, he had to settle with a part in the final chorus. The song "African Woman" was sung by Olga Dzusova, who had already worked with Crematorium on the album "Gigantomania." In "Rome Blues" (dedicated to the third Rome- Moscow) there were sounds of the brass wind section of the group Mongol Shuudan. In order to get the "growl effect" for an uncharacteristically exotic punk track "Kaine Design" they invited the "growler" from the group Boni Nem, Kirill Nemolyaev.
