Arkadyi Severnyi announces it just like that- "For George," "For Sergei┘" Almost every song is dedicated to some acquaintance of the singer, or the wife of the acquaintance┘ The album has a varied collection of songs- sung together with the ensemble or just to the guitar. It is unified, however, with the "lyrical theme." And this is exactly where you begin to understand the nature of the genre- stylization. Everything is a little unreal, even love, even if lyrical, is not always carried through- it's a little two-dimensional. Only the anecdotes are real, read by Severnyi to the strumming of a guitar on the last track. You go right back to the 1970's, along with Giscar de Estain, Ian Smith, Rodezia and that famous street in Odessa, Deribasovskoi┘
It's strange, but many of the "old" recordings don't have such an atmosphere about them, and don't bring back the era as much as those of Arkadyi Severnyi. That is why his record is intended mostly for Soviet historians of past eras.
